A native of Meridian, Mississippi, Charles Porter attended the University of Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1973.
Three years later, equipped with bond underwriting experience and a realistic understanding of the insurance industry, he joined Barksdale Bonding & Insurance, where he now serves as President, specializing in contract bonding and insurance for highway and building contractors.
When he's not in our offices researching market opportunities or sitting across your desk discussing the needs, concerns and considerations of your business, Charlie is likely to be attending a board meeting of any number of Mississippi's professional or civic organizations to which he believes in giving freely of his time and skills. He believes that his business experience and acumen can be used to benefit clients and the community, alike.
He, his wife Kathy, and daughter Jana are active members of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Gage Gibbs attended the University of Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Banking and Finance. While at Ole Miss, Gage was a President's List Scholar, appointed to the National Dean's List, and also served as president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Gage began his insurance career with a national insurance broker where he worked his way up to the position of Vice President and Sales Manager.
Gage joined Barksdale in 1983 as a principal of the agency serving on the Board of Directors as Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer of the organization. While focusing on large general insurance accounts, Gage also manages the Transportation Division of Barksdale Bonding and Insurance. He has held the industry’s professional designation of Certified Insurance Counselor, C.I.C. for over twenty years.
Gage, his wife Michelle and daughter Anna Copelan attend First Baptist Church of Jackson.

John Chalk, a native of Meridian, Mississippi, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Mississippi in 1974.
Prior to joining Barksdale Bonding & Insurance, John was a casualty underwriter in the Tampa, Florida branch office of USF&G. His personable, professional and dependable client-related service earned him a 1982 promotion to that company’s Jackson, Mississippi office, where he served as a supervising underwriter, before joining us in 1986. John is a principal of the agency and serves as Marketing Director.
Since joining Barksdale, John has served on IIAM's Conference Committee, numerous agents’ advisory councils and is presently serving on the board of directors for the Mississippi Surplus Lines Association. He also serves on several producer committees involved with such things as rate filings and the development of new products for the insurance buyer.
John, his wife Linda and their two sons, Jason and John III, are members of the Episcopal Church.

Billy Painter is a native of Gulfport, Mississippi and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in accounting from the Else School of Management at Millsaps College. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in sales and marketing from Millsaps.
Billy has spent all of his post graduate life in Jackson working in the construction industry. After several years with a construction niched CPA firm, he worked with the credit services division of a regional bank and marketed an integrated accounting and management system designed specifically for contractors.
He is an active member of ASA, AGC, MRBA, and MAPA and resides on the Executive Board of Directors for ABC serving as the Treasurer. He has been an active member of CFMA since its inception. Billy is also a regular contributor to various industry periodicals.
Billy specializes in construction bonds and insurance for Barksdale Bonding and Insurance, Inc.
Billy, his wife Regan, daughters, Ivy and Millicent and son, Blake are members of St. James Episcopal Church in Jackson.

Michael Bracken is a Jackson, Mississippi native, a graduate of Jackson Prep and the University of Mississippi, from which he earned a Bachelor of Public Administration degree in 1977.
He is a principal at Barksdale and brings to our clients a wealth of experience and knowledge acquired over his many years in the insurance industry. Michael specializes in large commercial accounts, providing our clients with individualized programs that combine sound insurance protection, cash flow benefits and control over claims management.
Michael believes in the importance of continuing education in the profession; he constantly attends seminars, programs and workshops, and in 1986 received the industry's professional designation of Certified Insurance Counselor.
Michael, his wife Jennifer, and his daughters Kristen, Mary Margaret, Jessica and Parker are members of St. James Episcopal Church.

Sean Dickerson is a Nashville, Tennessee native and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. There he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Management then studied economics at Kings College in England.
His finance background put him to work in Nashville’s music industry as well as an account representative for one of the nation’s largest stock brokerage firms. It was there he learned the value and importance of customer service and long-term relationships.
Sean was a key participant in the launch of the Tennessee office. He has ten years of experience specializing in the Transportation industry. He resides in Nashville with his wife, Christy and daughter, Sullivan, where he currently manages the Tennessee operation.

Mark currently lives in Troy and works out of the Alabama division of Barksdale located in Troy. Mark is a 1992 graduate of Troy University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. While attending college, Mark balanced work, academics and social activities where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Mark immediately went in to the insurance industry upon graduation. He has served as a Department Head and Vice President and later served as President of an insurance agency. All the while, he has maintained his direct relationship with clients. Mark specializes in large commercial and transportation operations. He desires to work with clients and insurance companies with the same high work ethic and drive that he strives for and those that desire mutually beneficial relationships.
Mark, his wife Dawn, and his two children; Ragan and Ridge, live in Troy where they are active members of Southside Baptist Church.

Nedra joined Barksdale in 1990 after being employed with The Travelers Insurance Company in their life and health department. She assisted agents and companies in developing benefit plans for their clients and employees.
The employee benefits market is constantly changing with new State and Federal regulations being imposed on the businesses of Mississippi. Nedra is aware of these changes. She participates in insurance courses, attends seminars and works closely with various companies and professional associations so that she can advise our clients of these changes.
Nedra and her husband, Vic, live in Florence, MS. She is a member of Marvin United Methodist Church. As a wife, and as a mother of two sons, Nedra understands the need for quality healthcare and for sound financial planning.
Her years of experience are a valuable asset to Barksdale and our clients.

Bill Janous is a native of Belzoni, Mississippi and attended the University of Mississippi, where he graduated with a Bachelor Business Administration degree, with an emphasis in Marketing. In addition, he was a member and officer in the fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order.
Bill joined Barksdale in 2000 with more than six years experience in the insurance profession. Bill was recognized as a distinguished agent and received numerous honors and designations in his previous position as a captive agent. In his position with Barksdale, Bill has obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor's (CIC) designation and was the first agent in Mississippi to have obtained his Certified Aviation Insurance Professional's (CIAP) designation.
Bill currently serves as a producer in the field of commercial property and casualty insurance, while specializing in business and agricultural aviation insurance. In addition, Bill maintains an active membership in the National Aviation Insurance Association, the National Business Aviation Association, the Helicopter Association International and the Mississippi Agricultural Aviation Association and is also a pilot.
Bill, his wife Leigh and their son, William reside in Madison, Mississippi and attend Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Woods Cavett is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, a graduate of Jackson Prep and the University of Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in Economics.
Upon graduating in 1990, Woods joined Physician's Mutual and later The Safilo Group where he was one of the top producers in the country. In February 2000, Woods joined Barksdale where he specializes in commercial property and casualty insurance.

J.P. Milam is a Leland, Mississippi native, who attended the University of Mississippi graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Managerial Finance. While at Ole Miss J.P. was on the Dean's List and active in the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Before coming to Barksdale, J.P. spent 5 years as a direct sales representative for a national insurance company where he specialized in large commercial accounts in the mid-south area. He developed expertise in handling the complex risk management issues that businesses face today.
In order to stay in touch with the rapidly changing insurance market, J.P. keeps in touch with brokers around the country daily and attends educational seminars regularly. He is currently working towards his Certified Insurance Counselor designation.
J.P. is married to the former Trenton Miller of Jackson and they have two sons, Max and John Scott.

Carl Parker joined our Loss Control Department in 1993 and has over 18 years of hands-on experience in occupational health, safety and ergonomics. Prior to joining Barksdale, he served as a loss control engineer for a national insurance company.
At Barksdale, Carl has worked to develop a variety of loss prevention and safety services to reduce the frequency and severity of losses, protect our clients' employees and meet governmental compliance requirements. His experience has also allowed him to effectively advise our clients on a variety of human resource issues.
Carl's education includes a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Southern Mississippi. Since joining our agency, he has also earned an Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM) designation.
Carl served as President of the Mississippi Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and later received an ''Outstanding Achievement'' award of his work within the Chapter.
Carl and his family attend Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison.

Bill Robertson joined Barksdale in 2003 in the Transportation Division as a Loss Control Specialist. Prior to joining Barksdale, his career spanned almost three decades in Trucking Industry working in MS, LA, and TX. He held various positions with large LTL and TL carriers. He spent his last ten years in the industry as Corporate Director of Safety and Human Resources for a large MS based truckload carrier. He concentrates his efforts in assisting our clients to develop programs to improve safety as well as improvement in driver hiring and retention.
Bill is an active member in the Safety Council of State Trucking Associations in MS, LA, AL, and TN as well as the Northeast MS Traffic Club. He is a firm believer in continued education regularly attending seminars in both the trucking and insurance industries. He recently attained the insurance industry’s designation of Certified Insurance Counselor.
Bill, his wife Shelia, and daughter Erin are active members in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Jackson.

James ''Bo'' Allen is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, graduated in 2003 from the University of Mississippi where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Management. He was an active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity where he served on the judicial board.
He began his career working as a sales representative for a large Steel Manufacturer in Jackson before he came to work for Barksdale Bonding and Insurance. Bo works in the General Lines Department and specializes in grocery stores, agriculture business and dairy products as well as a wide variety of business insurance. Bo attends Northminster Baptist Church in Jackson.

Preston Francis grew up in Natchez, Mississippi where he attended High School at Adams County Christian School, graduating in 1999. He Received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science from the Else School of Management at Millsaps College in 2003. Preston was also an active member and officer in the fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order. Upon graduating from undergrad at Millsaps he received a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on Finance from Millsaps as well.
Preston worked at Tri Span, a Blue Cross Blue Shield subsidiary, and then Barksdale while getting his MBA. After receiving his MBA Preston has continued to work at Barksdale in the Group Health, Life and Financial Planning Department.
Preston is active in the Mississippi Sids Alliance. He is an avid outdoorsman and is active with the Madison County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He is a member of the United Methodist Church.
